Project Overview
Geier & Bluhm’s current WordPress/WooCommerce storefront has become a source of frustration for both customers and the company. A confusing PayPal‑centric checkout page makes it look like credit‑card payments aren’t accepted, while malfunctioning forms, broken search results and unreliable shipping calculations force many orders to be completed by email or phone. With roughly 500 active products and more inactive items, the site’s structure and navigation make it hard for visitors to browse categories or quickly find the right product. Together these issues are costing sales and eroding customer trust.
This proposal outlines a complete migration to Shopify with an integrated QuickBooks accounting workflow, a redesigned e‑commerce experience and a modernised brand story that emphasises Geier & Bluhm’s precision, quality and American‑made craftsmanship.
Our Goals
- Streamline the buying process – Create a straightforward checkout that clearly supports credit cards, improves shipping accuracy and eliminates friction.
- Organise products for easy discovery – Build logical categories, filters and search tools so customers can quickly locate items by type, size or part number.
- Automate back‑office tasks – Integrate Shopify with QuickBooks to synchronise orders, customers, inventory and taxes.
- Enhance brand perception – Highlight the company’s commitment to quality and Made‑in‑USA craftsmanship through improved visuals and storytelling.
- Lay a foundation for growth – Use a scalable platform that supports international shipping, advanced reporting and future marketing efforts.
Platform: Shopify & QuickBooks Integration
Shopify handles hosting, security and maintenance, freeing you from server updates and plugin issues. Its intuitive interface makes product management and order processing simple, while built‑in payment gateways support credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and other methods. With Shopify, your store will be fast, mobile‑optimised and automatically PCI compliant.
To eliminate manual accounting, we will connect your store to QuickBooks. The official QuickBooks connector for Shopify can sync sales, taxes, fees and inventory either in summary or by individual item. We will configure tax preferences, map income, COGS and liability accounts, and schedule automatic daily syncs so your books stay up to date without duplicate data entry.
User Experience & Design
- Navigation & Categories – We will create clear product categories for circular levels, tubular levels, magnetic bases and other product lines. A mega‑menu and filter system will allow customers to browse by size, precision, material or mounting type.
- Search & Filtering – Predictive search with part‑number recognition and advanced filters will surface relevant products as users type. Category pages will include filters for dimensions, tolerance and special features.
- Responsive Theme – A custom Shopify theme will convey industrial precision while remaining modern and clean. The design will be responsive across desktops, tablets and phones.
- Product Pages – Each product will feature high‑quality photos, specifications, compatibility notes and an easy way to add accessories or related items. If additional photography is needed, we will coordinate on‑site shoots to showcase your manufacturing environment and Made‑in‑USA credentials.
Conversion & Checkout
- Payment Options – Enable Shopify Payments to accept major credit cards along with alternative methods like Shop Pay and PayPal. The checkout will display standard credit‑card fields first, with PayPal as an additional option rather than the default.
- Shipping Rules – Configure domestic and international shipping zones with flat, price‑based, weight‑based and carrier‑calculated rates. Customers will see accurate shipping costs and delivery estimates based on product weight and destination.
- Tax Calculation – Automate tax rates by jurisdiction to reduce compliance errors. For QuickBooks Desktop users, we will map the appropriate income, expense and tax accounts.
- Customer Accounts & Automation – Offer guest checkout alongside optional customer accounts for faster repeat purchases. Automated order confirmations, shipping notifications and abandoned cart emails will encourage conversions.
- Forms & Contact – Replace broken WordPress forms with reliable Shopify contact forms and product enquiry forms that deliver to the right inboxes.
SEO, Analytics & Marketing
- On‑Page SEO – Optimise meta titles, descriptions, headings, alt tags and URLs for your products and categories. Implement 301 redirects from old URLs to preserve search rankings.
- Content & Keywords – Perform keyword research to target terms related to precision levels, calibrating devices and your unique part numbers. Write informative product descriptions that include relevant keywords without sacrificing clarity.
- Analytics Setup – Activate Shopify Analytics for real‑time dashboards and 60+ built‑in reports. Set up Google Analytics 4, defining conversion events and cross‑domain tracking as needed.
- Email & Social Integration – Connect your store to email marketing tools like Klaviyo or Mailchimp for automated welcome and follow‑up sequences. Provide social‑media linking and product sharing features to encourage referrals.
Training & Support
- Staff Training – After launch, we will conduct training sessions covering product management, order processing, QuickBooks syncing and analytics. Sessions can be live or recorded.
- Video Library – We will create a private, searchable video library that documents key workflows. As new questions arise, we will add videos to keep your team self‑sufficient.
- Post‑Launch Support – For the first 30 days after launch, we will monitor performance, address any issues and make minor adjustments. Ongoing maintenance and SEO support are available at a monthly rate.

Estimated Results & Revenue Impact
Based on current WooCommerce analytics, Geier & Bluhm generated:
- $27,740 in net sales over the last year
- 71 total online orders
- An average order value of $397
- A 30% year-over-year decline in order volume
The key insight is this:
Average order value increased, while order count dropped sharply.
That suggests demand and pricing are not the issue.
Conversion friction is.
With a streamlined Shopify checkout, clear credit-card processing, reliable shipping rates, functional search, and improved navigation, a 25–50% improvement in completed orders is realistic.
If online order volume increases from 71 to:
- 100 orders annually → ~$39,700 in revenue
- 120 orders annually → ~$47,600 in revenue
- 140 orders annually → ~$55,500 in revenue
That represents a potential annual revenue increase of:
- $12,000 to $27,000+
— without requiring additional traffic spend.
This is purely conversion recovery and user experience optimization.
Operational Impact
Beyond revenue growth, the following operational improvements are expected:
- Elimination of PayPal confusion and abandoned carts
- Reduced manual order processing via email and phone
- Fewer support emails explaining how to check out
- Automated accounting sync with QuickBooks
- Cleaner reconciliation and reporting
Time savings alone compounds the financial return.
Direct Sales Capture
Modernizing the storefront also strengthens Geier & Bluhm’s ability to:
- Capture sales currently going to distributors
- Own more direct-to-consumer transactions
- Retain higher margins
- Collect and leverage customer data for repeat orders
Even a small shift in distributor purchases moving directly to Shopify significantly increases lifetime customer value.
ROI Perspective
At a $7,500 investment:
- Recovering just 20 additional orders per year nearly covers the project cost
- Recovering 40–60 additional orders creates strong year-one ROI
- Long-term gains compound annually
This is not speculative growth modeling.
It is conversion recovery, friction removal, and infrastructure modernization.
